Job Summary
Special Education teachers develop and monitor accommodations for students with special needs, collaborate on 504s and IEPs, differentiate instruction within an inclusive curriculum, and partner with families, general education staff, and leaders. Responsibilities include implementing pull-out/push-in and small group/1:1 instruction, analyzing student work and assessments to inform goals and IEP planning, maintaining safe, supportive classroom environments, engaging in weekly meetings, and participating in practice-based professional development and mentorship to support urban K-12 students.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (Education)
- New York state certification eligibility or preparation
- Enrollment in teacher preparation and maintenance of 2.5 GPA if not education degree
- Certification eligibility within NY after starting employment
