Job Summary
Special Education Teacher responsible for developing, differentiating, and delivering an inclusive curriculum for students with special needs; collaborate with families and Special Education teams to develop 504 plans and IEPs; foster an inclusive, safe classroom where students can become self-guided learners; implement pull-out, push-in, small group, and one-on-one instruction with strategies to differentiate learning; participate in weekly school-wide meetings, partner with grade-level teams to set academic goals, and engage in practice-based professional development and mentorship; required to obtain New Jersey certification within a reasonable period after starting employment; bachelor's degree required; experience in urban K-12 settings preferred; compensation range $56,000 to $80,000 with comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Teacher certification not a prerequisite for consideration in NJ (NJ certification eligibility required)
- 1-2 years of experience in urban K-12 settings preferred
- Experience developing and monitoring accommodations for students with special needs
- Knowledge of 504 plans and IEP processes
- Ability to differentiate instruction and collaborate with families and Special Education teams
- Commitment to social-emotional and academic development of students
- Strong collaboration with internal and external partners
- Willingness to participate in professional development and coaching
- Demonstrated ability to work in inclusive classrooms
- Academic expertise in Special Education or related fields
- Demonstrated interest in impacting urban students
