Job Summary
Special Education Teacher coordinates instructional programs and services for students with developmental disabilities and severe behavior problems in a school setting, including one-to-one support. Responsibilities include delivering research-based specialized instruction, assessing student progress, adapting instructional techniques, communicating with stakeholders, fostering student independence in communication, self-help, social skills, and functional living skills, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment, and guiding team members to achieve goals while adhering to policies. Proficiency in MS Office and strong organizational and interpersonal skills are required; CPR and First Aid Certification, and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification are preferred. Education requirements include a Bachelor’s degree and valid state teaching credentials; roles may require collaboration with an interdisciplinary team in indoor/outdoor environments with standard PPE and safety protocols.
