Job Summary
Special Education Teacher responsibilities include providing differentiated, IEP-aligned instruction to students with diverse learning, emotional, and behavioral needs; creating a safe, therapeutic learning environment; participating in IEP, child team, and staffings; monitoring student progress and collaborating with parents; and supporting transitions back to public school. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, a Colorado Special Education Generalist license, TCI training, and successful completion of background checks and clearances. The role is on-campus in Denver, CO with minimal travel, and emphasizes classroom management, data-driven instruction, and collaboration with families and school teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education
- Valid Colorado Department of Education Teaching License with Special Education Generalist or equivalent
- TCI trained and TCI refreshers maintained during the course of employment
- Current Colorado driver’s license (must obtain within 30 days of employment)
- Criminal background checks (CBI), FBI fingerprint check, State of CO child abuse check, DMV driving record check
- Pre-employment drug test and pre-employment physical
- Academic credential verification and reference checks
