Job Summary
Special Education Teacher at Island Lake Elementary in Minnesota. Responsibilities include serving as a case manager for students by developing and maintaining IEPs, facilitating IEP meetings, and providing parents with Rights and Procedural Safeguards information; delivering direct instruction to students with disabilities and supporting them to attain IEP goals; collaborating with general education teachers to plan and implement curriculum, state and district assessments, and progress reports; maintaining data to monitor progress and communicating with parents; advocating for students with disabilities; implementing proactive behavioral interventions based on FBA results; complying with state and federal rules; maintaining confidentiality under privacy laws; and participating in staff development and collaboration with related service providers and outside agencies as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Valid MN teaching license in a special education field.
- Ability to work collaboratively and positively with a multi-disciplinary team.
- Knowledge and experience with due process procedures.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience with conflict resolution.
- Training and experience in behavior management and knowledge of crisis response.
