Job Summary
Special Education Teacher for a self-contained 3rd–5th grade classroom in Mount Prospect, IL. Develop and implement IEPs for students with disabilities; provide differentiated instruction in one-on-one, small group, and inclusive settings; adapt lesson plans and curricula to meet diverse learners; assess and monitor progress using data-driven decisions; collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and support staff; participate in IEP meetings, student evaluations, and parent-teacher conferences; maintain accurate records per ISBE/IDEA guidelines; implement behavioral intervention plans (BIPs) and effective classroom management strategies. This contract role includes up to 40 hours per week with benefits including paid time off, holidays, professional development reimbursement, and retirement match.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Special Education from an accredited program
- Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Special Education Endorsement (ISBE)
- LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist I) endorsement
- Experience with IEP development and implementation
- Fingerprint Clearance & Background Check required
