Job Summary

Lead special education instruction by developing and implementing differentiated curriculum plans that accommodate individual student needs while collaborating with parents and staff to create Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Manage classroom environments through purposeful assignments for assistants, monitor student progress, and execute student-centered discipline strategies to maximize learning time. Provide direct support for student growth, including personal care and medical needs as outlined in IEPs, while maintaining open communication with families and participating in ARD Committee meetings. Ensure compliance with Texas Education Agency guidelines and district policies by filing required reports and attending faculty meetings.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from accredited college or university
  • Valid teaching certificate for subject/grade level assigned; Special Education certified
  • Eligible for the appropriate Probationary Certificate through the TEA approved Teacher Certification
  • Student teaching or approved internship or approved Alternative Teacher Certification Program training
  • Knowledge of special needs of students in assigned area
  • Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individual Educational Plan (IEP) goal setting process and implementation
  • Knowledge of subjects assigned
  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to work well with a diverse population
  • Regular attendance required
