Job Summary
Special Education Teacher (Resource) provides instruction to students with disabilities using an evidence-based curriculum and instructional model. Responsibilities include planning for individual and small-group instruction driven by IEP goals and data, establishing a positive classroom culture, safeguarding students and materials, employing diverse instructional techniques, analyzing data to develop IEPs, and maintaining compliance with laws and district policies. The role requires collaborating with parents, service providers, and other teachers; leading IEP meetings; writing progress reports; and maintaining accurate records. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education and a valid South Carolina teaching certificate with Special Education specialization. Term is 190 days; salary follows district teacher salary schedule. Updated 2018.
