Job Summary
Special Education Teacher - Reading role at Vines High School within Plano ISD. Responsibilities include developing and implementing lesson plans aligned with district curriculum, accommodating individual student differences, presenting subject matter per TEA guidelines, planning and using instructional strategies and technology to meet diverse learner needs, assessing student learning styles to inform instruction, collaborating with fellow special education teachers to modify curricula per IEPs, setting instructional goals with staff, supervising teacher aides/volunteers, integrating technology into teaching, supporting student growth and study skills, conducting ongoing assessments, potentially sponsoring extracurricular activities, and maintaining professional communication with students, parents, principals, and colleagues. Requires a Bachelor's degree, Texas teaching certificate with endorsements, ESL certification for relevant positions, and Special Education Certification for applicable roles; at least one year of student teaching or internship; and strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. The position emphasizes professional development, policy adherence, classroom management, and collaboration within Plano ISD, with a focus on delivering effective instruction to students with special needs while aligning with district and state guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject and level assigned
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- ESL Certification is required for specific positions (Pre-K and elementary and certain ELA/Special Education roles)
- Special Education Certification is required for specified positions (Early Childhood campus, etc.)
- Experience: At least one year of student teaching or approved internship
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Knowledge of core academic subjects and curriculum
- Plan, adapt, and assess using IEPs and TEA guidelines
