Job Summary
Provide direct special education services to students with disabilities in both general education and separate settings. Deliver explicit instruction in reading/literacy, math, written language, and social-emotional behavior while using systematic, structured, and multisensory approaches. Progress monitor student mastery of IEP goals using assessments and data collection tools, then develop Individualized Education Programs based on present levels of functioning. Administer formal and informal assessments to inform decisions regarding learning approaches and support, while accommodating and modifying instruction for student learning. Collaborate with general education, special education, related services, and families to ensure effective implementation of accommodations and IEPs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university in Special Education
- Massachusetts Certification of students with mild/moderate special needs, PreK-8 or 5-12
- Experience teaching or student teaching in an urban school setting
Desired Qualifications
- Masters preferred
- concentration in learning disabilities preferred
- Specialized training/certification in a foundational reading program such as Orton-Gillingham or Wilson Reading
