Job Summary
Special Education Teacher for the PACE Program at Houghton Elementary School in Sterling, MA. Develop and implement IEPs in compliance with MA DESE regulations; plan, organize, and deliver standards-based instruction aligned to state standards; adapt lessons to meet diverse student needs including students with moderate to severe disabilities; participate in MTSS progress monitoring and provide appropriate interventions; maintain documentation and communicate with students, parents, and colleagues; collaborate with general education teachers and PLCs to improve instruction using high-quality instructional materials; participate in IEP and eligibility meetings, school-based committees, and professional development; contribute to a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment and engage families through conferences and events; pursue ongoing professional development to implement innovative instructional practices and align with Massachusetts education policies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
- Massachusetts Teaching License for applicable grade level and subject area
- SEI endorsement
- Experience: Previous teaching experience preferred
- Ability to design and implement standards-based lesson plans
- Ability to tailor teaching strategies to meet diverse needs including ELLs and students with disabilities
- Knowledge of or experience with MTSS framework
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Background checks as required by Massachusetts state law and School Committee policies
