Job Summary
Special Education Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) provides coaching, support, and technical expertise to strengthen special education programming across Functional Life Skills, Transition Age Youth, and specialized programs. Collaborates with administrators, teachers, and multidisciplinary teams to align instruction with IDEA and ODE requirements, supports IEP development and compliance, designs and delivers professional development, and utilizes data to inform instruction and improve student outcomes in both academic and social-emotional learning domains. Responsibilities include instructional coaching, standards-aligned instruction, program support for FLS and transition services, ensuring compliance with district procedures, facilitating IEP meetings, and leading district-level training and collaboration to advance inclusive practices and post-secondary outcomes. Requires Oregon teaching license with Special Education Endorsement, 5+ years in SPED, and travel between sites; primarily in-person work with strong emphasis on collaboration, coaching adults, and supporting equitable student outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Oregon Teaching License with Special Education Endorsement
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in special education, including IEP development and instructional implementation
- Demonstrated experience in instructional support, coaching, or program support
- Experience across K–post-secondary settings preferred
- Demonstrated ability to provide coaching and professional support to adult learners
- Strong collaboration, facilitation, and communication skills
- Experience using data to guide instruction and decision-making
- Proficiency with IEP systems and documentation processes
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification (or ability to obtain)
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
