Job Summary
Special Education Teacher (Multiple Disabilities) at Maplewood Middle School. Responsible for implementing instruction tailored to individual needs of students with multiple disabilities in a self-contained setting. Role emphasizes creating a conducive classroom environment, guiding learning toward curriculum goals, employing appropriate instructional methods and materials, ongoing assessment and progress reporting, identifying students needing additional support, and collaborating with colleagues, students, and parents. Requires NJ certification and familiarity with technology as an instructional tool; participates in professional development and school/district meetings. Terms of employment are 10 months, with salary scales based on degree attainment and experience, including substantial increase with advanced degrees. The position reports to the Principal and supports instructional leadership in accordance with approved curriculum.
Required Qualifications
- NJ Certification as Teacher of the Handicapped or Students with Disabilities required
- New Jersey Instructional Certificate or eligibility
- Demonstrated ability to work with special needs students preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Required criminal history background check and medical screening; proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident/immigrant status
