Job Summary
Special Education Teacher responsible for delivering instruction to students with multiple disabilities in accordance with state core standards and district goals. Develops lesson plans and individualized/small group instruction, adapts curriculum to student needs, assesses progress, maintains accurate records, collaborates with professional staff, communicates with parents, and contributes to school planning and use of community resources. Strong classroom management, instructional adaptation, and interpersonal communication skills are essential; knowledge of computers and curriculum materials is desired.
Required Qualifications
- Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate Teacher of Students with Disabilities or Teacher of the Handicapped
- Highly qualified teacher in area of instruction; Multiple Disabilities experience preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of subject specialty and effective teaching methods
- Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
- Working knowledge of computers desired
