Job Summary
Create a classroom environment that cultivates learning and engages student interests through direct instruction techniques promoting social, physical, and intellectual growth. Develop and apply personalized learning approaches to support students with disabilities, assessing their accomplishments regularly and providing progress reports. Evaluate learning capabilities and disabilities, seeking specialist assistance as needed, while maintaining accurate records per law and policy. Explore individual needs to discover how each student best learns, implementing proven curriculum goals and modeling mature behavior. Provide side-by-side support to help students achieve academic and personal success.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- A current special education certification with proper endorsement(s) according to state and federal standards
- The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check
- Must have the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time
- see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids
- hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone
- speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone
- the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- lifting up to approximately 25 pounds
- occasional lifting of equipment and/or materials weighing up to approximately 40 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Two plus years SPED Teaching experience
- proven proficiency and experience in the subject of focus and specialty area of this position
