Job Summary
SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER in a Learning Center at BCHS responsible for planning and implementing academic and clinical IEP goals, developing an integrated curriculum, applying developmentally appropriate classroom structures, designing multi-modal lessons, managing behavior, collaborating with teachers, parents, and support staff, and actively participating in district professional growth. Requires CT Teaching Certificate and BS in Special Education (MS preferred); duties include testing/evaluations, maintaining student records, adapting materials to student needs, and contributing to transdisciplinary intervention plans. PMT training will be provided by the district. Location: Bristol Central High School under contract for the 2026-2027 school year.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Special Education; MS is a plus
- Valid Connecticut Teaching Certificate, 165 Comprehensive Special Education, K-12
- PMT TRAINING WILL BE REQUIRED AND PROVIDED BY THE DISTRICT
- Proven experience as a Special Education Teacher or relevant role
- Experience working with children with disabilities
- Ability to create IEPs
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Good knowledge of current special education topics and methodologies
