Job Summary
Deliver individualized instruction to students based upon their individual needs and provide clear, consistent structure for the classroom to ensure academic, social, and emotional needs are met. Draft, create, and monitor IEPs for assigned students in the classroom while supervising and providing feedback for Paraprofessionals. Teach during the ESY (Extended School Year) program. This Life Skills Teacher position supports students with profound disabilities and those on the Autism Spectrum through a sensory-driven curriculum featuring physical therapy, speech and language therapy, and adapted technology. The role includes a supportive mentoring program with in-classroom coaching and RBTP training.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited college
- Proper and current Illinois teaching credentials (PEL license)
- LBS1 credential
- Meet state guidelines for school accreditation
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job and to meet its functional and environmental requirements
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in educating children with special needs
- Ability to understand students unique needs and react effectively to their needs
- Experience with profound disabilities
