Job Summary
Implement personalized learning plans for special needs students to support their achievement of potential and district benchmarks. Deliver effective instruction aligned with Iowa Teaching Standards while collaborating with supervisors to develop professional growth plans. Manage Individualized Education Program (IEP) procedures and build relationships with stakeholders, ensuring compliance with Federal Rights and Privacy Act regulations. Maintain reliable attendance and respond quickly to emergency situations within the school setting.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to provide effective instruction to meet student needs relative to district benchmarks and standards.
- Ability to work with physically impaired and special needs students on a daily basis.
- Able to react quickly and calmly when an emergency arises.
- Knowledge of 'best practice' in teaching and of the developmental characteristics of students at the designated grade level.
- Extensive knowledge of IEP procedures.
- Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders.
- Knowledge of Federal Rights and Privacy Act and other civil rights regulations.
- Ability to organize and think clearly while communicating, organizing and evaluating.
- Earned Bachelor's Degree in Education or Board of Educational Examiners approved alternative.
- Appropriate BOEE licensure.
- Certification as an Instructional Strategist II: ID or willingness to obtain.
- Ability to work while standing, moving and/or walking.
- Must be able to see and hear within normal limits with or without corrective lenses or hearing aids.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle used to travel between sites.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience teaching students with disabilities preferred.
- Experience with IEPs preferred.
- Experience with Alternate Assessment preferred.
