Job Summary
Lead a special education classroom, developing and implementing IEPs, managing PBIS and behavior, supervising paraprofessionals, and collaborating with families and staff to support students’ academic and social growth. Responsibilities include leading IEP meetings, writing updates, maintaining compliant documentation, conducting assessments, tracking progress toward IEP goals, facilitating related service collaboration, and supporting assistive technology and augmentative communication devices while ensuring state standards alignment.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate issued by the Michigan Department of Education with Special Education endorsement
- Bachelor's degree
- DOJ/FBI Live Scan background and TB clearance, as applicable by state
Desired Qualifications
- 2–5 years experience working with students with learning and/or social-emotional needs
- Experience implementing curriculum and behavior interventions
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with IEP documentation systems
- DOJ/FBI Live Scan background and TB clearance as applicable by state
- Bachelor's degree (Master's strongly preferred) in Special Education or related
- Michigan teaching certificate with Special Education endorsement
