Job Summary
Special Education Teacher responsibilities include adapting lessons to meet the needs of students; developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for a caseload; assessing student progress and updating IEPs; teaching small groups including students in general education, 504, RTI, and ELL; aligning instruction with state standards and IDEA curricula; maintaining weekly lesson plans, updating gradebooks, and communicating progress with families; facilitating behavior management aligned with campus initiatives; collaborating with families and school staff; and participating in weekly meetings and after-school duties. The role requires 40+ hours spent at school per week, a Bachelor’s degree, and Texas Special Education certification. Compensation begins at $63,500 with potential stipends and additional compensation for after-school tutoring or weekend sessions. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution (required)
- Experience in a Special Education classroom setting (strongly preferred)
- Valid Texas state certification in Special Education (required)
