Job Summary
Special Education Teacher for Grades K-2 Behavior Class at Carver Washington Steam Magnet (2026-2027). Role involves developing, instructing, and data-collecting on students in education, behavior, and social skills; planning and delivering instruction aligned with IEP goals and LRSD curriculum maps; implementing individualized education plans; collaborating with administration and staff to maintain a positive, safe learning environment; participating in Safety Care and professional development; and contributing to a student-centered program focused on growth socially, emotionally, physically, and academically. Requires a Bachelor’s degree and Arkansas certification in SED, MR, LD, or Mildly Handicapped; experience with at-risk students and non-aversive behavioral programs; strong writing/organizational skills; and ability to implement IEPs and individualized behavior plans. Location: Little Rock, Arkansas.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Arkansas teaching certification in Seriously Emotionally Disturbed, Mental Retardation, Learning Disabilities, or Mildly Handicapped
- Experience with students at risk
- Experience implementing non-aversive behavioral programs and social skills training
- Ability to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Ability to create and implement individualized behavior plans
- Strong writing and organizational skills
- Commitment to desegregated education
- Experience teaching students with behavioral needs preferred
