Job Summary
Special Education Teacher for grades 5-8 responsible for implementing IEPs, delivering instruction aligned to student needs across reading, writing, math, and assistive technology; developing and adapting lesson plans, maintaining data on IEP goal growth and attendance, communicating with parents about academic and discipline issues, and creating appropriate virtual classroom materials. Collaborates with the Special Education team to evaluate and serve students with disabilities, plans for instructional assistants and parental volunteers, and supports professional growth to meet state and school requirements. Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and an active Arizona Special Education teaching certificate; fingerprint clearance required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and instructional technology tools is expected, along with strong interpersonal, organizational, and planning skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field from an accredited college or university
- State of Arizona Teaching Certificate in Special Education for HQ status
- Active AZ Department of Public Safety (DPS) IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Professional verification of successful classroom teacher performance and/or student teaching experience
- Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered
