Job Summary
Special Education Teacher for Extended School Year (ESY): deliver instruction and supervision for three hours/day, three days/week across three weeks (July 14–30) with a secondary focus. Responsibilities include planning and designing lessons using Universally Designed Learning aligned to CCSS, leveraging data-driven assessment results, creating an inclusive and equitable classroom environment, implementing MTSS and PBIS, differentiating instruction, assessing progress, and collaborating with health staff and IEP teams to support students with disabilities. Required to maintain IEP documentation, communicate with caregivers, and apply state and district policies while pursuing ongoing professional development. Certification in Special Education with relevant endorsement is required; experience with equitable teaching practices and UDL is preferred. Required Qualifications
- Washington State Teaching Certification with a Special Education endorsement
- Experience in Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
- Knowledge of equitable teaching practices
- Ability to meet state and federal laws pertaining to education of students with disabilities
