Job Summary

Provide structure and innovative instruction to students with emotional impairments using evidence-based assessment, intervention, and program design. Evaluate skills in learning, behavior, and communication; develop individual instructional objectives and comprehensive educational programs targeting academic, social, and community skills. Deliver direct instruction while adapting general education curricula and implementing positive behavior support plans. Collaborate with parents, service providers, and staff to design and monitor interventions, maintaining detailed data logs and anecdotal records. Develop and promote the special education philosophy of service and delivery within the high school environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education from an accredited university
  • Special Education Certification with Emotional Impairment Endorsement
  • Ability to provide Highly Qualified (HQ) status
  • Non-violent Crisis Intervention certification
  • Must pass criminal background check as required by School Safety Legislation
  • Current Michigan State Police and FBI criminal records LiveScan check

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success in special education or support service working with EI classrooms, 9th-12th grade preferred
  • Experience in delivering instruction in subject area content
  • Ability to integrate technology into the curriculum
  • Ability to communicate informational ideas in spoken and written language for clear understanding
  • Ability to work constructively with parents, students and staff
  • Experience working in Center Programs, preferred
  • Willingness to participate in all phases of the instructional program
