Job Summary
Special Education Teacher - Elementary responsible for developing and writing programs and schedules for students, providing specially designed instruction in resource or inclusive classrooms, implementing and revising IEPs, collaborating with general education staff and related specialists to support services, maintaining regular communication with families and home school personnel, completing IDEA paperwork, creating and monitoring behavior and intervention plans, and ensuring safe, engaging learning environments through data collection and professional guidance. The role requires Oregon teaching licensure with Handicapped Learner Endorsement, coordination across staff, experience with autism-supportive instruction and knowledge of IDEA requirements; bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required. The position emphasizes collaboration, communication, and adherence to district policies and behavior supports.
Required Qualifications
- Oregon Teaching License with Handicapped Learner Endorsement
- Experience coordinating, supporting and instructing multiple classified staff members
- Experience and training in delivering direct instruction, behavioral and academic programs for students on the autism spectrum
- Experience in designing and implementing functional routines with embedded communicative opportunities for students with developmental disabilities
