Job Summary
Special Education Teacher for elementary students with IEP goals, who may act as a case manager, co-teach in a regular education department, or teach a substantially separate subject area. Responsibilities include implementing IEP processes, preparing and conducting IEP meetings, monitoring student progress, and revising IEPs as needed; collaborating with regular education teachers, counselors, and parents; contributing to the Special Education Department and school community; and supporting student transitions to post-high school life. Strong communication, technology proficiency, and the ability to manage diverse and complex student needs are essential, along with reliable attendance and participation in departmental and school-wide activities.
Required Qualifications
- Requisite licensure as defined by the DESE
- Experience implementing all parts of the IEP process
- Knowledge of a wide range of disabilities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to use technology effectively
- Ability to handle a multitude of varying and complex issues
- Believes in helping all students achieve their potential, including minority and low socio-economic students
