Job Summary
Special Education Teacher for elementary grades in RRPS Desert Programs. Coordinates teaching program with site-based goals and district-wide objectives; instructs and assists students in motor, language, socio-emotional and cognitive development; ensures that IEP goals are completed; assists students with special needs (feeding, moving non-ambulatory tasks, diapering, bathing); plans and directs instructional activities of educational assistants; instructs students in one-on-one activities and small groups; maintains communication with educational assistants and regular education teachers; arranges the classroom for learning and safety; delivers the curriculum; applies conflict resolution skills; develops goals for self and students’ achievement; maintains documentation and reports; complies with administrative codes and standards; may be assigned other duties by the district during the term of employment. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
- Current New Mexico Department of Education license appropriate to the teaching assignment with applicable endorsements or ability to obtain proper licensure within 90 days of hire
