Job Summary
Design dynamic, personalized learning experiences for Grades 6–8 students with IEPs by delivering targeted instruction, creating comprehensive lesson plans, and integrating educational software. Implement Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) strategies to establish a collaborative climate emphasizing mutual respect and social development. Manage student caseloads by developing, updating, and enforcing individualized education plans while tracking progress and generating detailed reports. Adapt curricular content to accommodate diverse learning styles and provide guidance to instructional staff on differentiation methods. Maintain an organized classroom environment, manage supplies, and respond constructively to feedback to pursue ongoing professional growth in alignment with state standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in education, special education or a closely related field of study
- Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining a valid FL state exceptional student (ESE) teaching credential
- Ability to obtain and maintain certification in company approved crisis management training
- Prior experience teaching at a middle school grade level
- Prior experience teaching science and/or a closely related area of subject
- Prior experience with curriculum development, lesson planning, differentiated instruction and working with students with individualized education plans (IEP's)
- Prior experience and/or knowledge in special education services and compliance, particularly for students with learning disabilities, emotional behavioral disorders, autism spectrum disorders and/or other related disabilities
- Proven success in developing and implementing effective education plans for students with diverse needs
- Proficiency in providing motivation and having critical conversations with students that help move them toward realistic goals
- Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving, and decision-making ability
- Ability to think and act quickly and calmly in an emergency and make independent decisions
- Knowledge of relevant technology including experience with instructional technology, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry and basic office equipment
