Job Summary
Facilitate multi-grade, multi-content coursework in English, math, science, and history while adapting lessons to varied learning styles. Serve as case manager for students with IEPs, developing, reviewing, and updating plans in compliance with IDEA, including conducting meetings and reevaluations. Maintain a positive, structured learning environment using restorative practices and prepare reports such as lesson plans, assessments, and progress reports. Collaborate with colleagues and leadership to discuss scholar progress and address academic or behavioral concerns. Work within the District of Columbia's long-term detention center to support justice-involved youth in a secure facility.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education or subject field
- Must have or be eligible for initial certification by OSSE in the appropriate content area
- Must obtain initial certification within 1 year of employment
- Knowledge of IDEA and IEP development
