Job Summary
Special Education Teacher role focused on behavior support at Dickinson High School. Responsibilities include delivering specially designed instruction, collecting data to monitor student progress (academic, behavioral, and functional goals per ARD documents), collaborating with campus teams to develop and implement lessons and interventions with accommodations/modifications, managing or assisting with Behavior Intervention Plans and IEP goals, providing behavioral support inside and outside the classroom, maintaining records, ensuring safe environments with de-escalation strategies, participating in PLCs and professional development, coordinating ARD/LPAC/504/RtI and reporting, and complying with district, state, and federal guidelines. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree and a Texas teaching certificate with endorsements, plus one-year student teaching or approved internship. The role involves direct collaboration with parents and staff, periodic progress reporting, and adherence to TEA guidance and district policies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for the subject and level assigned
- One-year student teaching or approved internship
- Knowledge of curriculum and instructional methods including accommodations, adaptations, and alterations to address the needs of special populations
- Specialized training/experience in behavior modification, pro-social skills, and/or supports to address the behavioral needs of special populations
- Knowledge of ARD process, FIE review, IEP goal-setting process, data collection requirements, and relevant supplements and implementation requirements
