Job Summary
Develop and implement curriculum plans with accommodations for individual student differences while presenting subject matter per Texas Education Agency guidelines. Supervise teacher assistants and volunteers, employing varied instructional techniques and technologies to support student growth in intellectual, emotional, physical, and social areas. Assess student progress regularly, maintain classroom discipline, and establish open communication with parents and community members. Complete required reports, attend faculty meetings, and participate in district professional development. Work according to the district calendar, with occasional after-school or weekend duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate
- Be eligible for the appropriate Probationary Certificate through a TEA approved Teacher Certification Program
- Knowledge of subjects assigned
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Must be able to maintain emotional control under stress
- Must be able to lift or exert force of up to 25 pounds
- Close vision
- Distance vision
- Color vision
- The ability to adjust focus
- Occasionally required to travel to facilities within the district
- May be required to work after school and weekends
