Job Summary
Special Education Teacher at Assurance Learning Academy expects you to teach in a personalized instructional environment, work with students and/or parents to determine and evaluate each student’s academic plan, manage and provide services according to the student’s IEP, collaborate with instructional staff, and report to the Principal. Responsibilities include planning and implementing daily lessons aligned with the approved curriculum; conducting pre- and post-testing using standardized tests; writing and implementing goals in collaboration with students’ IEPs; scheduling and chairing IEP meetings; managing student behavior; demonstrating competency across subject areas; identifying students with potential disabilities post-intervention; providing direct instruction and academic assessments; meeting timelines per education code; collaborating with general education teachers; working with staff to support instruction; participating in trainings and meetings; maintaining documentation of communications and daily activities; completing required reports; traveling to other school sites to render services; performing assorted administrative duties. Knowledge areas include California Teaching Standards, core subjects, independent study and distance learning models, research-based instructional strategies for diverse student populations, and proficiency with technology and SIS. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree, California credential Specialist with authorization, EL Authorization or eligibility, Autism Authorization or eligibility, and demonstrated competency in the assigned subject area. Travel up to 5% is required. The role emphasizes teamwork, documentation, and adherence to IEP processes and state education requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Valid California credential Specialist with authorization for the Special Education disability and level assigned or intern eligible
- English Learner Authorization or eligible to obtain EL Authorization
- Autism Authorization is required or eligible to enroll and complete a Commission-approved professional preparation program in the special education specialty area requested, including successful completion of supervised field study
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- Knowledge of Student Information Systems (SIS) and related Educational Systems
- Proficient level of skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other technology applications
- Ability to travel up to 5% In the performance of job duties are required
