Job Summary
Special Education Teacher Assistant at Oswego East High School to support students with specialized needs in academics, behavior, and health/hygiene as directed by Special Education Teachers. Responsibilities include assisting students to achieve their goals, applying general written and verbal guidance to specific situations, and lifting/moving up to 30-50 pounds. This is a full-time role (approx. 35 hours/week) with a benefits package, IMRF pension plan, and school-calendar holidays. The position emphasizes collaboration with teachers and support for students across therapeutic and instructional goals.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to lift and move up to thirty pounds without assistance or to assist with lifting and moving up to fifty pounds
- desire to assist students with specialized needs
- knowledge or ability to obtain knowledge of best practices for working with children and young adults with specialized needs
- skill in applying general written and verbal guidance to specific work situations
