Job Summary
Special Education Teacher for ASD (K–2) delivering specially designed instruction aligned with IEP goals and Michigan standards. Responsible for individualized instruction addressing communication, social interaction, behavior, adaptive functioning, and academic development; apply structured teaching, visual supports, AAC, and evidence-based ASD interventions; develop visual schedules and social narratives; collaborate with families and multidisciplinary teams; monitor progress toward IEP goals using data; support inclusive opportunities and maintain compliance with IDEA, MARSE, and district procedures; participate in IEP meetings and professional development. Applicants must hold a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Special Education endorsement for Autism Spectrum Disorder (SV) or be eligible to obtain endorsement. Required Qualifications
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
- Special Education endorsement with Autism Spectrum Disorder (SV) endorsement or eligibility to obtain endorsement
- Knowledge of child development and instructional practices for early elementary students with ASD
- Experience with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems
- Experience implementing structured teaching, visual supports, and evidence-based ASD interventions
- Knowledge of early literacy and mathematics intervention practices
- Experience implementing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) with fidelity
- Collect, analyze, and utilize data to drive instructional decisions
- Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and classroom management skills
