Job Summary
Special Education Teacher/ASD at South Orange Middle School. Provide instructional leadership in a middle school special education setting, implementing ABA-informed strategies and supporting students with ASD through individualized plans, differentiated instruction, AAC, and data-driven progress monitoring. Collaborate with academic teachers in a team-based environment, design and implement IEPs, utilize technology for instruction and communication, assess student performance, identify students needing additional supports, and participate in professional development and district meetings. Requires NJ Teacher of the Handicapped or Teacher of Students with Disabilities certification and background check; compensation varies with degree level and credentials, with clearly defined salary ranges.
Required Qualifications
- NJ Teacher of the Handicapped or Teacher of Students with Disabilities and Elementary Education certification required
- Experience teaching students in a self-contained Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) program required; experience implementing ABA principles and strategies preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of designing and implementing individualized educational programs for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, including differentiated instruction, AAC, behavior supports, communication development, and data-driven decision making
- Demonstrated ability to work with middle school students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and diverse communication, behavioral, academic, and functional needs preferred
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills
- Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident/immigrant status
