Special Education Teacher - Adaptive PE

Job Summary

Conduct adapted physical education instruction for students with intellectual disabilities, autism, traumatic brain injury, or orthopedic impairments, tailoring techniques to individual skill levels and IEPs. Evaluate motor needs, assess physical progress, and prepare lesson plans to foster physical fitness, gross motor skills, and social-emotional adjustment. Provide positive feedback, maintain student records for attendance and participation, and manage instructional equipment inventory. Establish behavioral standards to ensure safe learning environments and communicate observations to parents and administrators. This role reports to the Principal in a normal classroom setting requiring approximately seven hours of standing and walking daily.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • clear renewable certificate or be eligible for a clear renewable certificate in Health and Physical Education (P-12)
  • additional certification in Special Education General Curriculum (P-12)
  • Normal classroom/school setting
  • Must be able to stand and walk approximately seven (7) to seven and one-half (7½) hours per day
  • Light lifting or carrying 20 lbs. or less

Desired Qualifications
