Job Summary
Special Education Teacher providing direct instructional services and Wilson Practitioner support across North Providence Public Schools and parentally placed schools. Responsibilities include developing and implementing IEPs, coordinating with school staff and external providers, traveling between sites, administering and interpreting assessments (including WIST), delivering Wilson Multisensory Reading, using data collection for FBA/BIP and Manifestation Determinations, supervising and directing support staff, and handling Medicaid paperwork. The role emphasizes collaboration, de-escalation techniques, differentiated instruction, lesson planning for rigorous instruction, and ongoing communication with building principals and the Director of Student Services. The position combines 0.5 Wilson Practitioner duties with 0.5 work at parentally placed schools, requiring travel and on-site instructional support across multiple school sites.
Required Qualifications
- Special Education teaching credential/certification
- Wilson Practitioner credential or experience with Wilson Reading System
- Experience developing and implementing IEPs
- Ability to design and implement FBA, BIP, and Manifestation Determinations
- Experience administering WIST assessments
- Experience delivering Wilson Multisensory Reading instruction
- De-escalation training (Safety Care, CPI, etc.)
- Ability to perform data collection and progress monitoring
- Experience with Medicaid paperwork and case management
- Collaboration with principals, teachers, and service providers
- Differentiated instruction and modification of student work for individual needs
- Ability to travel between multiple sites using personal vehicle
- Record-keeping and documentation
- Escort/assistance to students as needed
- Interpreting educational evaluations
- Planning and delivering lessons across multiple schools
- Developing materials and resources for instruction
- Plan weekly instructional program with building principals and director
