Job Summary
As a Special Education Teacher, you will lead the instructional process for students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in a K-12 setting. Responsibilities include designing personalized learning experiences, delivering targeted instruction, creating lesson plans, and fostering an inclusive classroom environment. You will track student progress, manage a caseload, and develop IEPs to meet diverse student needs. A Bachelor's degree in education or special education is required along with relevant state licensure and special education credentials. Candidates should have experience with curriculum differentiation, strong communication skills, and the ability to adapt teaching methods to various learning styles.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in education, special education or a closely related field
- Licensed for IN state teaching
- Special education credentials in Exceptional Needs - Mild Interventions, Exceptional Needs - Intense Interventions, Alternative Special Education License, Initial Practitioner License, or Proficient Practitioner License
- Ability to obtain certification in crisis management training
- Prior experience in special education or behavioral health program setting
- Knowledge of working with students with emotional behavioral disorders and autism spectrum disorders
- Ability to maintain organization and manage multiple responsibilities
