Job Summary
Deliver instruction, implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and ensure compliance with all instructional, behavioral, therapeutic, and safety protocols. Design and modify curriculum, document student progress, and oversee staff and instructional supports in accordance with school policies, Minimum Standards, and applicable regulations. Collaborate with colleagues to support students' functional academic, behavioral, motor, communication, and daily living skills development. Develop, modify, and implement instructional plans aligned with IEP requirements, administer assessments, and supervise Teacher Assistants to ensure compliance with safety procedures. Document daily student progress, behavioral data, and instructional outcomes while maintaining open communication with families and caregivers. Establish a safe classroom environment, manage student behavior using approved interventions, and participate in required activities including field trips and accreditation events.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or documented equivalent work experience
- Valid teaching certificate or equivalent coursework (minimum 12 hours in subject-area coursework)
- Experience with curriculum development, instructional compliance, and student documentation
- Demonstrated understanding of child development and instructional methodologies
- Knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and compliance requirements related to special education
- Ability to implement IEP goals, instructional accommodations, and data collection procedures with fidelity
- Ability to manage student behavior using approved interventions and crisis-response protocols
- Ability to supervise, train, and direct Teacher Assistants in compliance with school standards
- Proficient in organizational, communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with technology, adaptive equipment, and assistive technology
- Ability to produce accurate and timely records, progress reports, and required documentation
- Ability to interpret and implement policy; communicate effectively; maintain focus and emotional regulation under stress; and follow procedural expectations
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds in accordance with safety training
- Must utilize approved de-escalation and restraint techniques as trained
