Job Summary

Provide direct, explicit, and specially designed instruction aligned to each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP), using evidence-based practices and differentiated instruction. Develop, implement, monitor, and maintain compliant IEPs, student records, and progress reports while serving as case manager for assigned students. Design and implement individualized behavioral supports, utilize de-escalation strategies, and communicate student progress with families and team members. Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and administrators to ensure coordinated programming and inclusive instructional practices. Supervise and support paraprofessionals, utilize instructional technology, and perform other duties as assigned by the building principal.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have proper certification with RIDE: Elementary Grades Special Education Teacher, Grades K-8
  • demonstrate expertise in providing direct, explicit, and evidence-based instruction to students with identified disabilities
  • create an inclusive, structured, and supportive learning environment that promotes student growth through individualized instruction, targeted interventions, and meaningful access to grade-level curriculum
  • Provide direct, explicit, and specially designed instruction aligned to each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP), using evidence-based practices, differentiated instruction, and ongoing progress monitoring to maximize academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and maintain compliant IEPs, student records, progress reports, and all required documentation in accordance with state and federal special education regulations while serving as case manager for assigned students
  • Design and implement individualized behavioral supports and interventions
  • effectively respond to behavioral and mental health needs
