Job Summary
Special Education Strategist I Teacher responsible for delivering instruction to K-8 students with Mild/Moderate disabilities in Johnston Schools. Lead instructional planning aligned to local curriculum standards, design lessons from whole to part, use diverse, multi-sensory instructional techniques, and incorporate district-provided technologies. Communicate learning goals to students and parents, assess progress with traditional and alternative measures, and maintain confidential information. Establish fair classroom rules, reinforce positive behaviors, and collaborate with staff, families, and the community to create a positive learning environment. Demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and ongoing growth, arrive on time, and participate in professional development; assume leadership roles as appropriate. Terms of Employment: 194-day contract.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Iowa teaching license with K-8 Instructional Strategist I: Mild/Moderate endorsement
- Previous special education teaching experience preferred
