Job Summary

Manage the routing program for Special Education students by establishing bus routes, maintaining route maps, and developing rosters for drivers. Coordinate with school officials, parents, and vendors to adjust schedules, process load counts, and recommend routing changes. Communicate updates to stakeholders while prioritizing tasks under minimal supervision. Requires a CDL endorsement and high school education. Reports to the Operations Manager of Routing Efficiency within the Transportation Department.

Required Qualifications

  • High School education
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with required endorsements
  • Appropriate driver's license valid
  • Knowledge of school transportation operations, practices, hazards, and safety precautions
  • Knowledge of business practices applicable to transportation
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials, associates, parents, and the general public
  • Good oral and written communication and human relations skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good telephone etiquette
  • Ability to work well under considerable pressure
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to accept and process continual input from various sources
  • Ability to sort critical information
  • Ability to maintain logs
  • Ability to make good operational decisions promptly
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to regularly talk and hear
  • Ability to frequently walk, stand, and sit

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate degree
  • Experience in transportation operations
