Job Summary
Special Education Preschool Paraprofessional provides classroom support and personal care in a preschool setting for students with disabilities, working with small groups or individuals. Responsibilities include following teacher instructions, reinforcing concepts, promoting inclusive education, assisting with activities using music, art, and play, supporting student mobility and use of assistive devices, helping with personal hygiene and snacks, preparing teaching materials and displays, supervising students during transitions and activities, participating in after-school programs, and maintaining confidentiality and a positive learning environment. Requires a HS diploma or GED, ability to obtain Educational Aide Permit, health and background clearances, infant/child CPR/First Aid certification, and the ability to manage students with disabilities.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Holds or is qualified to obtain an Educational Aide Permit
- Current infant/child first aid and CPR certification
- Meets health requirements (e.g., TB test)
- Documented evidence of a clear criminal record
- Ability to physically manage students with disabilities
- Self-directed and able to learn required skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Congenial disposition
