Job Summary
Special Education Preschool Paraprofessional provides classroom support and personal care to students with disabilities; works with the classroom teacher, small groups and individual students, reinforces concepts, maintains a positive learning environment, and assists with activities addressing diverse learning styles. Responsibilities include promoting inclusive education, supporting student mobility and use of assistive devices, aiding with hygiene and feeding as trained, assisting with behavior modification plans, supervising non-classroom activities, preparing teaching materials and displays, and participating in staff meetings and after-school programs. Requires a High School diploma or GED, an Educational Aide Permit, CPR/first aid certification, ability to manage students with disabilities, and a clear background, along with health requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Holds or is qualified to obtain an Educational Aide Permit
- Infant/child first aid and CPR certification
- Ability to physically manage students with disabilities
- Clear criminal record
- Health requirements (e.g., tuberculosis test)
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with teacher and students in classroom
- Capable of handling personal hygiene tasks as trained
- Demonstrates professionalism and confidentiality
- Willingness to participate in after-school activities and staff meetings
