Job Summary
Adapt classroom activities and materials under teacher direction to support instructional objectives. Administer tests, homework, and make-up work while assisting medically fragile students with personal hygiene needs. Implement behavioral plans from IEP teams and provide individual or group instruction in academic, social, and daily living skills. Monitor students in various school environments including hallways, playgrounds, and cafeterias to ensure safety. Maintain instructional files and communicate progress with staff and parents. Attend in-service training on emergency procedures and first aid. Demonstrate dependability and maintain confidentiality regarding student information.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education (48 college hours)
- Have an associates or bachelors degree
- Demonstrate knowledge through formal assessment, (e.g. ParaPro Assessment (former assessment) or The Paraeducator Learning Network Assessment (current assessment) within one year from date of hire
- Maintain current TB testing as required by Health Department regulations (after employment offer is made)
