Job Summary
The Special Education Paraprofessional will assist the special education teacher in implementing classroom policies and procedures, adapting instructional activities and materials for students with special needs, and providing physical support to students. Responsibilities include monitoring students in various school environments to ensure a safe and positive atmosphere. Candidates must possess either a 2-year Associates Degree or relevant college credits, a valid Ohio educational aide permit, and must pass background checks. Effective communication and teamwork skills are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Highly Qualified – Possess a 2-year Associates Degree or 2 years of college credits (48 semester or 72 quarter hours) or passage of state paraprofessional standards exam (PARAPRO Test)
- Valid Ohio educational aide permit
- Must pass criminal background checks and pre-employment drug screening
- Adapt to changing work priorities
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and teachers
- Maintain confidentiality
- Work as part of a team
- Possess problem-solving skills
