Job Summary
Special Education Paraprofessional providing support to high school students identified with special needs under the direction of the special education teacher. Responsibilities include adapting classroom activities and materials, assisting with required physical activities including walking and transferring students (including wheelchairs), and monitoring students across settings (bus, playground, restroom, field trips) to maintain a safe and positive learning environment. 7 hours per day at Kettering Middle School for the 2026-27 school year.
Required Qualifications
- Must be Highly Qualified – Possess a 2-year Associates Degree or 2 years of college credits (48 semester or 72 quarter hrs.) or passage of state paraprofessional standards exam (PARAPRO Test)
- Valid Ohio educational aide permit.
- Must pass criminal background checks and pre-employment drug screening.
- Must have competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job including adapting to changing work priorities, communicating effectively with students, parents, and teachers, maintaining confidentiality, working as part of a team, and must possess problem-solving skills.
