Job Summary
Provide extra assistance to students with special needs, including non-English speakers and those with physical or mental disabilities. Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, gymnasiums, or during field trips. Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups to reinforce learning concepts while distributing teaching materials. Enforce administration policies, coordinate instructional efforts with teachers, and observe student performance to record relevant data. Carry out therapeutic regimens under supervision, assist in bus loading, and monitor classroom viewing of virtual courses. Report suspected bullying, child endangerment, or neglect as required by law and district policies. Perform other duties as assigned by the building administrator.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED
- An Associate's Degree (two year college or technical school) OR 60 college hours OR A passing score on the Paraprofessional Proficiency Assessment
- Must meet all state and federal requirements for the position
- Successful completion of pre-employment background checks
- Appropriate personal and professional conduct at all times while around students and other staff members
- Shall be able to demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency with computers and programs associated with the position
