Job Summary
Provide support to Special Education teachers in self-contained classrooms; assist in formulating individualized student programs and in planning and preparing instructional materials; complete paperwork related to individualized curriculum and IEP objectives; participate in school functions and activities; help students develop social and work skills; assist with implementation of IEP objectives and behavior modification plans; assist with medical and personal care needs, including mobility, hygiene, feeding, and supervision in cafeteria/playground; may accompany teacher on home visits or homebound instruction; maintain files/records and assist in preparing educational materials; tutor students with special needs; adhere to confidentiality and district rules; requires High School diploma or equivalent, 60 college credits or an Associate’s degree, valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance, First Aid/CPR, and ability to lift at least 30 pounds; Spanish and ASL skills preferred; 29.5 hours per week, calendar: 10 months; hours and duties as described.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion Para Educator assessment, 60 college credits (100 level or higher), or an Associate's degree
- Must possess a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance card
- Must be able to push, pull, or lift weights of at least 30 pounds
- Must be proficient in the use of the English language, both verbal and written
- First Aid and CPR certification (can be obtained by the district)
- Must possess a valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Must be able to pass a background check upon employment
