Job Summary
Deliver a variety of support duties related to a sound academic program and maintain a healthy, safe environment for children with special needs under direct supervision. Assist classroom teachers with instructional materials by adapting curriculum, providing parallel activities, and helping students with academic work, testing, and communication. Provide physical assistance including mobility support, hygiene tasks, and transportation to and from buses. Monitor student behavior using calming techniques, implement behavioral interventions, and escort students during travel, lunch, recess, and field trips. Maintain confidentiality and attend staff meetings and professional learning as requested.
Required Qualifications
- Willingness to complete CPI training
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of students, schools, teachers and classrooms
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust/focus
- Consistent and reliable attendance
- Free of any alcohol or drugs throughout employment
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree
- Experience working in an academic environment
- Experience working with school age youth
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Excellent organizational, communication, and recordkeeping skills
